Games for Christian Parties

Often, fellow church-goers join together for an evening of jolly and clean fun. One way to get everyone included and having fun is by playing games. There exist several games that have a Bible version that are perfect for such situations. Apples to Apples: Bible Edition is a game of word association that anyone can play. In this game, players match certain description cards with object cards for a judge to pick which match he or she likes best. The Bible Edition includes such words as “Virtuous”, “Helpful”, “Mary”, “Jawbone”, “Baptism” and so forth. Another great gospel party game is Guesstures: Bible Edition, the fast-timing Charades game. Each card comes with words such as “Candle”, “Husband”, or “Mountain” that are acted out, as well as with a corresponding Bible verse on the lower part of the card. The Bible version of Scattergories is a hilarious way for small groups of Christians to have fun together. In this game, different topics are listed and players must write down objects that fit within that topic that start with a decided letter. The Bible version has topics such as “Things that are Counted”, “Fruits of the Spirit”, and “Plagues”. With games such as these, players are sure to have a hilarious and uplifting time.

Family Bonding Through Family Games

One effective method to bringing families close is to play games together. Playing games as a family allows the family to feel fun and joy together and clear out any negative feelings. During game play new things can be learned about the family members that were otherwise unnoticed. Games can aid family members notice the good traits and talents of the other members as well. During game play occurrences often happen that lead to entertaining memories that family members will be able to recall even a long time afterwards. It also happens that inside jokes are born during a game that will bring the family together even after the game is over. Hugs, high-fives, laughs, and compliments are also commonplace in family games. Playing a game with a family is a lot more economical than other bonding alternatives, like the movie theater or eating out. Every occasion of game playing might not be remembered by the family, but the children and parents will always remember that they were close and could have fun with one another.

Games Help Stretch the Brain

Games do not solely entertain, but often challenge gamers and arouse their brains. Games require players to have to really think about decisions they will make or risks they should take, all on meeting a specific objective. The game of Clue might be one of the easiest games to see that games really do promote mental titillation. Clue requires that players deduct who the murderer is based off of small clues given throughout the game. Other games, like that of Rush Hour, strain players’ skills in problem solving and in looking at the big idea. In Rush Hour, players have to move certain cars like sliding puzzle pieces to create a clear path for another car to pass through. Games like Alhambra and Ticket to Ride call for players to use several mental skills. These games involve decision-making, like between using your turn to take money for a future investment, or going ahead and spending now while there is still a chance. With games such as these, players develop skills on how and when to spend and on competitiveness, similar to the world of business. These are but a very few of the mental skills that can be developed and enhanced within games.

Family Games versus Online Gaming

With all of the many entertainment options now available in today’s world, it is important that we decide wisely how to use our leisure time. More and more children and even parents are deciding to spend their time with online games rather than playing games with each other. More positive things come from playing family games than spending time doing online gaming. For one, family games allow everyone to interact, whereas online gaming requires a computer per player and most family members will not be able to get in on the fun. Games with the family allow for real interactions on a personal level. Online gaming relationships tend to be just as virtual as the game. Family games are light-hearted and wholesome but online gaming tends to be violent and regard other crude subject matter. Little growth comes from online games. Family games encourage education, learning, as well as finding things out about one another. Many people become addicted to online gaming because it does not have a finite end. Hours, days, weeks, even months of life are lost this way. Family games have a defined beginning and end so the family can decide if they wish to play again or move on to another activity. Memories are hard to be created inside a virtual reality. Family games can lead to memories and jokes that will be remembered for years to come. Another advantage of family games is that there are no monthly fees. Although online games might seem easier to do during our leisure time, it is clearly not as beneficial for ourselves or our families as family games are.
