Fun Religious Travel Games

Whether on long vacations or short trips, the car is a great place to turn off the radio and bond with the family. One way to talk on a more religious note is to play games based on the Bible. The following are some examples of such games that the family can play together while inside a vehicle. The Bible edition of Outburst will keep the family laughing the whole trip through. Outburst: Bible Edition is played just like the original, with lists of the top ten most popular of any certain topic. Examples of lists are “Sons of Jacob”, “Animals in the Bible”, and “Names For Christ”, to name but a few. The Bible edition of Mad Game can also be played while traveling with no hassle. This game plays like the original, taking common phrases and distorting them to sound like some other phrase. One such phrase is “Pills Are Offs Halt”, which becomes “Pillar of Salt”. Bible Blurt! can also be played during road trips. To play this game, one player reads the meaning of a word and the other players try to guess that word first. One card from this game might say, “Thanks to God expressed before and after meals”. The first player to guess the word “Grace!” wins that round. Certainly these games will lead to a more meaningful time with the family than just listening to the radio or watching movie. They may even bring up great gospel discussion.

Fun Ways to Pass On Your Christian Values to Your Kids

For many, passing on Christian values to the family is so important, but does not feel natural to do in the home. Obviously the value of Church meetings and scripture study is inestimable. However, there are other ways to integrate gospel learning in your home. For example, children can learn about many scriptural stories and ideas through Christian-based games. These games help open the way for great teaching opportunities. Often, kids want to learn more about something they heard about in a game. Games also help children remember better the ideas and stories presented. Children who play Christian games tend to have a deep desire to discover more about the values that are most precious to you.

The Pros and Cons of Family Gaming and Online Gaming

With all of the many entertainment options now available in today’s world, it is important that we decide wisely how to use our leisure time. Children and adults alike have trouble deciding whether to use their time playing online games or playing games with one another. More positive things come from playing family games than spending time doing online gaming. For one, family games allow everyone to interact, whereas online gaming requires a computer per player and most family members will not be able to get in on the fun. Games with the family allow for real interactions on a personal level. Online gaming relationships tend to be just as virtual as the game. Many online games contain much violence and other degrading material that are not wholesome for younger children. Family games rarely if ever touch on such matters and never at the same gravity as online games. Family games have a tendency to promote learning and education, exercising the brain and learning new vocabulary as well as discovering things about one another. Online gaming usually teaches little more than strategy and planning, and that at a basic level if any. Many people become addicted to online gaming because it does not have a finite end. Hours, days, weeks, even months of life are lost this way. Family games have a defined beginning and end so the family can decide if they wish to play again or move on to another activity. Memories are hard to be created inside a virtual reality. Family games can lead to memories and jokes that will be remembered for years to come. Another advantage of family games is that there are no monthly fees. Despite the popularity of online games, these simply do not substitute for the fun and real bonding that comes from playing games with the family.

Party Games for Christians

Every now and then, members of a church will come together for a fun night of clean and enjoyable amusement. One way to get everyone included and having fun is by playing games. There exist several games that have a Bible version that are perfect for such situations. In Apples to Apples: Bible Edition, one player acts as a judge. The other players choose out of their stack a description word that describes an object that has previously been chosen. The judge then decides which one he or she likes best and that player wins the round. This Bible version has a list of hundreds of word that include “Helpful”, “Jawbone”, “Virtuous”, “Mary” and “Baptism”, to name a few. Another great gospel party game is Guesstures: Bible Edition, the fast-timing Charades game. Each card comes with words such as “Candle”, “Husband”, or “Mountain” that are acted out, as well as with a corresponding Bible verse on the lower part of the card. One more great game that Christian party-goers will love is the Bible version of The Game of Scattergories. In this game, different topics are listed and players must write down objects that fit within that topic that start with a decided letter. The Bible version has topics such as “Things that are Counted”, “Fruits of the Spirit”, and “Plagues”. Games like these are guaranteed to help Christian party-goers have a positive experience together.
