Connect With Your Family By Means Of Playing Learning Games and Participating With A Variety of Other Types Of Decent Amusement

By: Macall Roswell

Playing Games Leads to Learning

Everyone knows just how much fun goes on while playing games, but few notice all of the learning that happens. Interesting facts and stats can be learned in games of Trivia like Outburst, Trivial Pursuit or the Game of Knowledge. These games also present items and ideas in which gamers may have interest but had never heard of before. Children learn a lot of new words from games, whether inside the rules or at other points during the game. Grown-ups also learn unfamiliar words, like in Scattergories, Taboo and Scrabble. There are certain games that typify a more complex system that exists in the world, but bring it to a basic level. For example, the game Masterpiece shows how auctions work, Monopoly demonstrates mortgage, and Pit teaches about the stock market. Who knew learning could be so much fun?

Christian Puzzles for a Great Family Bonding Experience

A wonderful activity to bring your family together is to do a puzzle. Christian puzzles can be assembled as an opportunity to share religious values. People tend to check repeatedly the big picture of the puzzle as they work on it. When the picture is one of religious significance, minds are turned toward thoughts of that portrayal and toward the Lord. During puzzle assembly religious conversation will flow easily concerning the picture and its meaning. When the puzzle is complete, many people like to frame their work and display it. This way, those who live in the home will remember that special experience of putting it together and those who live without the home will be able to ask about the puzzle and find out more about the gospel for themselves. “Noah’s Ark”, “Days of Creation”, VeggieTales and Little Blessings are all puzzles based on Christian values that can be found for purchase.

"Let the Little Children Come To Me"

In Matthew of the New Testament, it is read that Jesus directed to "Let the little children come to me, and do not hinder them". The Redeemer pleads that we help young children to know him. Since many young ones do not yet know how to read or cannot understand everything that happens during a worship service, there exist several other ways to help the children come to Jesus. One such way is through playing games that they can understand and participate in. Some such Christian games include Ark, Noah’s Quest and several VeggieTales card games. Bible toys also help bring the stories to life and allow children to reenact and visualize the stories that are so important to know. You can find toys that represent Jesus Feeding the Five Thousand, Moses & the Ten Plagues, and David and Goliath. There are also elementary puzzles that represent Bible stories and doctrinal principles, like charity. These games, toys and puzzles will help the children grow a desire to want to come unto Jesus.

Fun Religious Travel Games

A great time for coming closer as a family is while traveling together in the car. Playing Bible-based games is an excellent way to bond and bring up precious values. The following are some examples of such games that the family can play together while inside a vehicle. Outburst: Bible Edition is a laugh-out-loud game that the family will love. This game has people guessing the top ten items of a certain topic. In the Bible edition, topics include, “Names For Christ”, “Sons of Jacob” and “Animals in the Bible”. Bible Mad Gab is another game that can easily be played in the car. In this game, nonsensical phrases are put together that when said quickly sound like another common phrase. One example from the Bible version is “Pills Are Offs Halt”, or, “Pillar of Salt”. In Bible Blurt! gamers are read a definition and try to be the first to name the object being described. One card from this game might say, “Thanks to God expressed before and after meals”. The first player to guess the word “Grace!” wins that round. These games, among others, will keep everyone entertained in the car and lead to gospel discussion and interest.
