Party Games for Christians

Every now and then, members of a church will come together for a fun night of clean and enjoyable amusement. Games are always a great way to get everyone involved and make fun memories at such occasions. With such a group, playing a Bible version of a favorite party game will make the night both hilarious and enlightening. Apples to Apples: Bible Edition is a game of word association that anyone can play. In this game, players match certain description cards with object cards for a judge to pick which match he or she likes best. Words like “Jawbone”, “Helpful”, “Baptism”, “Mary”, and “Virtuous” all appear in this game, among hundreds of others. Guesstures: Bible Edition is an awesome gospel-related party game like Charades. Each card comes with words such as “Candle”, “Husband”, or “Mountain” that are acted out, as well as with a corresponding Bible verse on the lower part of the card. Scattergories: Bible Edition is even another way for Christian partiers to enjoy themselves. Just like the original, lists of topics are given and a special dice is rolled to determine the letter that must start an item that fits within these topics. In The Game of Scattergories: Bible Edition, topics include “Plagues”, “Things that are Counted”, “Fruits of the Spirit” and others. Games like these are guaranteed to help Christian party-goers have a positive experience together.

Dangers of Online Gaming

Online games are considered by many to be unsafe. Although each one decides for his or herself what is safe and what is not, there are certain aspects of online gaming that must be considered when deciding whether or not to enter or continue in the realm of online gaming. Online games connect to a network where there is no real regulation of who can enter and who cannot. Therefore, gamers will be playing with people they are likely to have never met before and do not know. This includes playing with people that a gamer normally would never play with if he or she knew who they were and their kind of character. Many of these online games are violent. Although some are fantasy-related, they do often involve the taking of lives of characters that are controlled by real people. It is important to realize then that a gamer is then fraternizing with people who have little qualm about putting a bullet through an opponent’s head in a virtual setting, or brutally killing or abusing them in other ways. Anything can be said inside these networks, since there is no censor. That allows for much vulgar and vicious talk, which is not infrequent in these games. These games tend to be demanding and addictive, and cause many gamers to live an unhealthy lifestyle of less sleep than necessary as well as a lack of quality food and exercise. Although some of these risks may seem small, they are hardly worth chancing for a few too many hours of illusory entertainment.

Toys for Christian Children

Children of today buy toys of super heroes like Spider-Man, Jedi, and Transformers. Children should also be learning about real heroes, like Paul, Moses, and Esther. There are toys now to help children better know these beloved prophets and holy people. Stories like Daniel in the Den of Lions and David and Goliath will become more real and alive for these children with these toys. . There are toys made of stories in the New Testament too, like Jesus Feeds the Five Thousand, and a children’s Nativity. There are specific figurines as well, of people such as Samson, Peter and Mary. These Christian toys are perfect to help restless children settle down during Church. They also really help children identify who is who in the Bible and their stories.

How Learning Goes Hand-in-Hand with Playing Games

With all the fun that happens while playing a game, it is hard to perceive the learning that takes place. Interesting facts and stats can be learned in games of Trivia like Outburst, Trivial Pursuit or the Game of Knowledge. These games also present items and ideas in which gamers may have interest but had never heard of before. Children learn a lot of new words from games, whether inside the rules or at other points during the game. Even adults learn new words, especially in games like Taboo, Scrabble, and Scattergories. Some games illustrate simply how things that are more complex work. Pit typifies the stock market, Masterpiece resembles real live auctions, and Monopoly teaches principles on real estate, including that of mortgage. Truly games help us learn but in a fun way.
